PASSENGER RULES TO RIDE

A Code of Conduct to Maintain A Safe and Pleasant Experience for Everyone.

We ask that riders observe the following Rules to Ride while using our bus service.


  Be Prepared:

All fares are cash, ticket and 711 app.  All Passes must be legitimate and require proper usage (senior passes are not transferrable, call 518-943-3625 for more information).   When using cash, exact change is required upon entry of the bus.

Arrive at the bus stop early; buses do not wait. 

Stand back form the street while waiting at the bus stop. 

Do not run in front of a moving bus in order to stop it and pick you up.  If you hold your hand up to wave the bus for a stop, they will stop at the closest safe place to pick you up. (The bus will not stop on a bridge)

Check the bus destination sign to ensure the approaching bus is the vehicle servicing your stop. Ask the driver if you are unsure. 

Seat belts should be worn for your protection.

Please be ready to exit the bus at your stop. 

Wait until the bus departs the bus stop before crossing the street. 


  Not Allowed on the Bus:

Hazardous materials (flammable substances, corrosive agents, etc.) or weapons (firearms, knives, etc.)

Open containers of alcoholic beverages.

Illegal Drugs – drugs not obtained by doctor’s prescription.

No Animals – except certified service animal. Animals CAN NOT ride on seats.


  Personal Hygiene and Dress Code:

Shirts and footwear must be worn at all times.

Personal hygiene must be maintained in a manner that does not result in offensive odors. Passengers with poor hygiene can be denied transportation.


  Eating, Drinking and Electronic Devices:

Eating is prohibited on the bus.

Do not eat, drink, smoke (including e-cigarettes and vaporizers), and or play excessively loud music on the bus. 

No beverages without a secure lid. NO Alcoholic beverages.

Radios or other sound-generating equipment may be used with headphones.


  Conduct:

Take a seat quickly. 

Secure your personal belongings within your seat and remember not to purchase more than you can carry when shopping. There is a 2 bag limit per passenger.  Drivers are not able to leave the bus to assist with packages. 

Be sure to have all of your belongings when you exit the bus. Greene County Transit is not responsible for lost or stolen items. 

Do not change seats while the bus is in motion.

No abusive, threatening or obscene language or actions.

No marking, etching, cutting or damaging the bus in any way.

No illegal activity of any kind will be tolerated.


  Safety:

No unnecessary conversation with the driver.

No obstructions are allowed in the aisle. Carry-on items and Strollers must be stored within seating area.


  Riders who engage in physical abuse or cause physical injury to another rider or driver will be subject to immediate withdrawal from the bus, suspension from service and possible criminal charges.
