Modified Service Information

Modifications 

Greene County Transit  has made changes to meet the challenges of the Coronavirus pandemic and limit the exposure to our passengers and staff. 

 

As of Monday, July 19, 2021, we have been providing modified transportation service.   

    Please check individual route page for details.


Some of this modified service can be utilized by scheduling an appointment if needed.  This service is for urgent/essential travel and non-emergency medical appointments for transportation along our regular service routes and on the days that are published for our regular system. 


This  service can be utilized by following the instructions below:

  •  All rides that require appointments (Dial-A-Ride) must be scheduled with the Greene County Transit office by calling (518) 943-3625 .
  •  These rides must be scheduled before the close of business (3:00PM) on the day BEFORE the ride is needed. This includes any return trips. 
  •  Monday trips must be scheduled by Friday before 3:00 pm
  •  Route pickup times may be adjusted by our scheduling staff based on the appointments that have been requested.
  •  All transportation requests must be along our regular service route, including connecting routes (transfers).
  •  All fares remain the same as our regular service fare.
  •  $3.00 Regular Routes per trip
  •  $2.00 Catskill Shuttle 3 trips
  •  $10.00 Route Deviation (up to ¾ mile outside of the service route) per trip
  •  Veterans Ride Free (Sponsored by Sawyer Chevrolet)
  •  Senior Coupon per trip (Sponsored by Greene County Department of Aging and Youth)
  •  Ride711.com /ezridefare.net $5.00 round trip(s).  This fare is for Route 711 only.
  •  Transfers are free (cannot be used for return trip) Please see "Transfers and how to use them to your advantage!" on our " Rider Information " page.
  •  The three bag limit has been temporarily suspended.  All packages must be secured with you inside the bus.
  •  If possible, refrain from sitting in a seat close to the driver or other passengers and remain respectful to the recommended social distancing.  You can do this by  leaving an empty row of seats between you and other passengers or your driver.
  • Once seated on the bus, you are not permitted to change seats unless your driver requests it for safety reason.
  •  Please take your belongings (including garbage) with you when you depart the bus.
  •  Hostile and/or Dangerous Passengers will not be permitted to use this service.
  • This includes intentionally causing the spread of any virus' or illness to other passengers or staff on the vehicle.
  • This is NOT EMERGENCY transportation; if you need emergency transportation call 911.

ADA and Reasonable Modifications for people with disabilities


The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, public access to services, transportation, public accommodations and telecommunications services.

 

It is the policy of our program to abide by all provisions of the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and US Department of Transportation (DOT) implementation regulation found at 49 CFR Parts 27, 37 and 38 as amended, in the delivery of services that are open to the public and prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability and sets specific requirements that must be follow.

 

As a recipient of federal funds Greene County Public Transportation is required to provide accessible services that meet the requirements of the ADA. It is the goal of our system, through its fixed route deviated service, to design, implement and maintain an efficient and effective transportation system for persons with disabilities. Our system works to ensure nondiscriminatory transportation in support of the Federal Transit Administration’s mission to enhance the social and economic quality of life for all Americans.


It is the policy of Greene County Public Transportation to ensure programs and services are implemented without discrimination through its ADA policy and procedures. Greene County Public Transportation’s assures that no person or groups of persons shall, on the grounds of disability excluded from participation, denied benefits or otherwise subjected to discrimination under any and all programs, services, or activities offered. Greene County Public Transportation has a zero-tolerance policy regarding any form of unlawful discrimination against our customers.
